California State Go Championship
Californian tournament, est. 2018. The open tournament is also known as the King Cup California State Go Championship. It's hosted sometimes, or perhaps always, by the San Diego Go Club.
"All four tournaments were sponsored by a generous gift to the San Diego Go Club by King Bi", an American 4d who won the Dapu Cup North America Go Open?.
A similar event called the TRENDnet Southern California Go Championship was held between 2011 and 2013.
Results
The 1st (2018) edition was won by American professional Calvin Sun. Yi Wang 6d (2018 San Diego Champion) and Yufei Jin 6d were runners up. There were "almost 80 go players competing". More info.
The 2nd (2019) edition was won by Evan Lin 7d. Yifan Yu 6d was runner up. There was a tie for third place, between Bo Luan 6d, Sato Kosuke 5d, Muzhen Ai 7d, Ming Lin 6d and Yi (Michael) Wang 6d. More info
The 3rd (2020) edition was played online. It was won by Bo Luan. Zhengbokang Tang 8d was runner up and Yixian Zhou 6d placed third. "(Non-Californian) players hailed from New York, Vermont, Florida, and Oregon, and were from 7 to 75 years old." More info
The 4th (2021) edition was held over Thanksgiving weekend (November 27-28). It was won by Kevin Yang 7d, who was undefeated. Shuaiheng Tao 7d and Kevin Meiqing Huang 5d were runners up. The handicap sections were won by Jaewoo Go Park (Div. 1), Arunas Rudvalis (Div. 2) and Jiaying Wei (Div. 3). The U16 Girls was won by Angelina Zhao, the U16 Boys by Zhenxuan Li, and the U16 13x13 by Anna Zhou. The youngest players were Donovan Chen and Zoe Tan, at six years old. More info
U-16 tournaments
There are three U-16 tournaments. Participation in these excludes the competitors from also playing in the open tournament of that year.
There's a U-16 Boys and a U-16 Girls. It seems that there were originally also a Boys 13x13 and a Girls 13x13, but that the two were later unified. And the 13x13 youth tournament(s) is apparently distinct from the Open 13x13. This is unclear, though.
