I am playing through some traditional Chinese games from a book from the PRC. It would be helpful to have a list of basic Chinese characters to interpret some of the variations. Is there a list of basic Chinese characters available? There is a very long list on Sensei's Library, but I am looking for a few basic terms such as black to play, sente, gote, Ko, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions?
See the page, Basic Japanese for reading go books -- it has the very basic character list that you seem to be looking for. The Chinese character for ko, by the way, is the second of the two choices found on the page; the first is how it is usually spelled out in alphabetic characters, in Japanese books.
